On Saturday, 23 April 2016, AKTI participated at an event organised by the American Embassy in Cyprus, on the occasion of Earth Day. The event began with a short speech, followed by a group run along the cliffs at Governor’s Beach with sweeping morning views of the Mediterranean. Members of AKTI, within the framework of MarLitCy, then gave a short presentation and organised a five-minute beach “speed clean up” followed by a short source identification workshop to educate participants on common sources of marine pollution.
AKTI, representing the MarLitCy project, was present at the English School's Career Fair last Wednesday (20 April 2016) informing students about career opportunities in the blue and green sectors. The fair was a great success and students were very keen to not only hear about possible careers in the blue sector, but to also take an active stance against marine litter.
