One of the project’s key activities concerns the development of consultation structures between civil society, local communities and local bodies in order to revise the ‘legal framework’ related to the protection of the marine environment in the northern part of Cyprus.
The purpose of this activity is two-fold: (i) to actively involve non-conventional stakeholders, such as CSO representatives, youth organisations etc. in decision-making and (ii) to help bring the ‘legal framework’ related to the marine environment in the northern part of the island in line with EU Directives.
The outcome of this activity is a Roadmap and Action Plan for local legal text reforms in the northern part of Cyprus to better safeguard the sustainability of the marine and coastal environment from the threat of marine litter.
