Marine Litter Database

Clean-ups of marine litter, whether on the beach or on the seabed, are key tools used within MarLitCy to raise awareness about the sources, causes and impacts of marine litter. During the clean-ups organised by the partnership, the internationally recognised Ocean Conservancy clean-up protocol is implemented to record the collected marine litter. The data from these clean-ups have been incorporated into the interactive Marine Litter Database below.

You are encouraged to interrogate the database to view data from specific clean-up events or to explore trends in marine litter amounts over time.

If you would like to contribute data from your cleanup, please complete the Ocean Conservancy Data Form and send it to [email protected]. Alternatively you can download the CleanSwell App and upload your data directly during your cleanup!
