Fishing for Litter (F4L) is a best practice to address floating marine litter, successfully implemented in several European countries, including Cyprus. The first F4L initiative in Cyprus was launched within the framework of the MarLitCy project in Famagusta, where it engaged 22 fishermen and the local port administration to collect and appropriately dispose of marine litter. The MarLitCy aims to expand the F4L initiative through knowledge exchange workshops raise awareness and build capacity among fishermen.
MarLitCy has developed a Fishing for Litter Brochure and a Guide for fishermen (EN, GR & TR) providing information about the initiative, the project, and also provide important contact information for fisherman.
