The MarLitCy MASDER Team's last stop for school presentations: Gazimağusa Ticaret Lisesi
Prior to the summer season, a total of 10 secondary schools & gymnasiums were visited in Famagusta and Iskele regions. The MarLitCy project, with its partners AKTI and Enalia Physis, will be in Paphos on the 1st May 2015, as strong supporters of an event organised by the Office of the European Parliament in Cyprus and the European-funded project MARLISCO, in order to send a strong message that we want our seas free of marine litter and plastic bags.
In a day filled with fun activities for all ages, MarLitCy will be implementing its 'meet the sea' event, where free 'intro to diving' lessons will be given to children over the age of 10, and its 'Dive against Debris' activity, where expert divers will be cleaning up the seabed. Come join us for a day filled with fun! Yesterday, AKTI Project and Research Centre, organised an educational activity with the 3rd graders from Agioi Anargyroi Elementary School in Larnaca. 45 children and their teachers cleaned up the picnic area by Larnaca Salt Lake, implementing a recognised cleanup protocol, and learned about marine litter - its sources, impacts and solutions - from AKTI staff and volunteers.
Several such events are being organised within the framework of the MarLitCy project, in order to educate Cypriot children about the important issue of marine litter. If your school would like to participate in such events, don't hesitate to contact us! |
